Bradford & Cookbury Organisations

Bradford & Cookbury Parish Council

Bradford & Cookbury Parish Council is responsible for representing the views of the community, developing ideas and projects that will benefit the parish, and assisting with the management of the day to day affairs of the parish.

The council usually meet bimonthly on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7:30pm at the Village Hall. 

You parish council team get involved with community safety, helping local groups, crime prevention, and campaigning for better services and facilities. We can also raise money via taxation and agree expenditure.

Council meetings are open to the public and time is always made available for you to ask questions or raise matters.

Bradford & Cookbury Newsletter

The Bradford & Cookbury newsletter is a community newsletter published bi-monthly for the combined parishes of Bradford and Cookbury in Devon, England. It serves as a way to share news, announcements, and information about local events and activities within the combined parishes.

Six editions are published each year. Deadline for submitting content for inclusion in the next edition, will be the 15th of the preceding month.

Bradford & Cookbury Village Hall

Bradford & Cookbury village hall is well maintained and equipped. It offers versatile accommodation with adjacent well lit car park with level access to premises. Accommodation comprises room for meetings (20 to 30) and a large hall adaptable for lectures, performance, parties, wedding receptions, sport, dancing, exhibition, craft sales etc. Excellent acoustics, portable staging, PA system and hearing loop.

Quality banqueting chairs and tables included to seat approximately 150. Well-equipped large kitchen for preparation of buffets and hot meals. Equipment: ovens, grill, microwave, hostess trollies, plate warming cabinets, bain marie, fridges and freezer, crockery, cutlery and glasses. 

Other facilities include a skittle alley and snooker room. There are many varied weekly/monthly activities based at the hall.Wifi is also available at the Hall.

“Ruby Country Medical Group brings together Holsworthy Medical Centre, Stratton Medical Centre and Hatherleigh Medical Centre, serving Holsworthy and Stratton as well as surrounding villages. We see patients in clinics held at all three of these sites.

Our team includes GPs, Clinical Pharmacists, paramedics, nurse practitioners, practice nurses, health care assistants and phlebotomists as well as our practice management, administrative support and patient services teams. We also have access to social prescribers, mental health practitioners, health and wellbeing coaches, diabetes, frailty and other allied health professionals all employed by Coast & Country Primary Care Network, of which we are a part.

At Stratton Medical Centre and Holsworthy Medical Centre there are on-site, independently run, pharmacies. At Hatherleigh we have an integral dispensary.”
